Browse triggers and reactions by category. Choose a section below to browse its triggers, then choose a trigger to see how to activate it and what reaction it causes.
- Triggers & Reactions — Triggers are actions, events or situations Villagers can notice. Reactions are the dialogue and animations they may respond with.
- Nearby & Visible — Most reactions require a Villager to be nearby or able to see what is happening. Different triggers can have different detection requirements.
- Cooldowns — Reactions use cooldowns to keep dialogue feeling natural. Repeating the same or similar actions may not trigger another reaction immediately.
- No Reaction? — Not every trigger will cause a Villager to react every time. Cooldowns, distance, visibility, context and Chattiness can all affect whether a reaction plays.
- Context Matters — Some reactions depend on additional conditions such as the Villager’s profession, age, surroundings, your reputation or what is happening nearby.
- Reaction Variations — Many triggers have multiple possible reactions, so Villagers won’t always respond to the same situation in exactly the same way.
- Chattiness — Villager Chattiness controls how frequently Villagers speak. Lower settings make reactions less frequent, while higher settings make Villagers more talkative.
- Rare Lines — Some reactions include longer and more unusual Rare Lines. Their frequency can be adjusted separately using Rare Villager Lines in Settings.
